Ingredients

  • 24 wonton wrappers square or round
  • 1 cup finely chopped vegetables e.g., cabbage, carrots, mushrooms, bell peppers
  • 1 cup cooked and seasoned filling of your choice e.g., seasoned tofu, seasoned tempeh, or cooked and seasoned vegan ground meat substitute
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce or tamari for a gluten-free option
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Cooking spray or oil for greasing the air fryer basket

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the finely chopped vegetables, cooked and seasoned filling, soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, and minced garlic. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly distributed.
  • Take a wonton wrapper and place about 1 tablespoon of the filling mixture in the center.
  • Dip your finger in water and moisten the edges of the wonton wrapper.
  • Fold the wonton wrapper in half to form a triangle, pressing the edges together to seal the wonton. Make sure there is no air trapped inside.
  • Take the two bottom corners of the triangle and bring them together, sealing with a dab of water to form the classic wonton shape.
  • Repeat the process until all the filling is used up and you have a batch of mini wontons.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes.
  • Lightly grease the air fryer basket with cooking spray or oil to prevent sticking.
  • Place the mini wontons in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure they do not touch each other.
  • Cook the wontons in the air fryer for 8-10 minutes or until they turn golden brown and crispy. You may need to cook them in batches if your air fryer is small.
  • Once cooked, remove the wontons from the air fryer and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce or enjoy them on their own.
  • These Air Fryer Mini Wontons are best enjoyed fresh and hot!

Notes

Feel free to customize the filling with your favorite vegetables, tofu, tempeh, or vegan meat substitute to suit your taste preferences. The wontons can be frozen before cooking for future use.
